How dare you...?

Sometimes the mirror is just the door. What's really painful is what walks through it: the feeling of not being enough, or not being who you thought you'd be by now, or just a general heaviness you can't quite name.

The face is just the thing you're looking at. But the feeling underneath is usually older than any mirror. You don't have to have it all figured out.

I'm curious: when you walk away from the mirror feeling torn apart, what do you usually do with it? Do you carry it through the day, or does it fade? Is it something someone has planted in you, or is it you not feeling good about yourself?

For me, it's a combination of rejection and negative words that led me to believe I wasn't good enough or smart enough, especially when I was told I lacked the skills to accomplish something. This cycle seemed endless. However, I don't believe that's how God intends for us to be or how He views us. It's an insult to His creations, "Us." Replace the negative self-talk and feelings with positive affirmations.

I promise myself I won’t be hard on myself anymore; I’m going to be me. Who's with me?
