Hands Up for Prayer: Starting Your Friday Right
Friday mornings hit different, don't they?
There's this mix of relief that the week is almost over, and exhaustion because you're still not quite there yet. Maybe you're running on four hours of sleep, like I am. Maybe you've got a to do list that didn't get smaller no matter how hard you worked this week. Maybe you're just tired not sleepy tired, but soul tired.
We want to invite you to do one simple thing: put your hands up.
Why hands up?
Raising your hands isn't about performance. It's surrender. It's saying, God, I can't carry this week on my own shoulders anymore. I'm handing it to You.
There's something physical about the posture that changes something internal. When your hands go up, your grip loosens. You can't hold onto control and surrender at the same time so lifting your hands is a small, real act of letting go.
Maybe this week wore you down. Maybe it surprised you with something good. Either way, Friday morning is a good checkpoint to pause and ask:
What am I carrying that isn't mine to carry?
Where did I see God show up this week, even in small ways?
What do I need to let go of before the weekend starts?
You don't need special words for this. Prayer isn't a performance review. It's a conversation with someone who already knows your heart before you say a word.
If you don't know where to start, try this:
"God, thank you for bringing me to today. Thank You for carrying me through this week, even when I didn't notice You doing it. I lift my hands and I lift my heart take what's heavy, and meet me in what's ahead. Amen."
That's it. That's totally enough!
Whatever this Friday holds for you a slow morning, a hard conversation, or just the simple joy of the week finally winding down you don't have to carry it alone.
Hands up. Heart open. He's got it.
What are you praying for this Friday? We'd love to hear it drop it in the comments or share this post with someone who needs a reminder today.
